1. Creating an audience
Creating an Olvin audience is quick and easy to do. Let us show you how to get started.
What you’ll learn in this article:
- How to use analytics to select an audience
- How to use the checkbox tool to select a specific audience
Using analytics to select an audience
Throughout the Olvin platform, you’ll see “Buy Audience” buttons. This will enable you to build an audience based on the graph that you’ve selected.
What factors affect the audience I’ve selected?
- The location is affected by which section of the platform you are on
- The time period selected through the calendar
- The filter is set by the type of insight card you’ve selected
Insight cards on the Homepage are either connected to all of your selected areas, or a specific area. Learn more about the Homepage here.
Unless clearly stated, insights cards in the Areas section are connected to your selected area. Learn more about the Areas page here.
Insight cards on the Venues – Group page refer to all visitors who have been seen in the venues that you selected during registration. You can select visitors of individual venues by visiting the Venues – Search page and searching for your chosen venue.
If you want to add additional locations, you can do so on the customise audience screen. Learn more here.
1.2 Time period
So, the screen that you are on sets the location of the audience that you’re selecting. But if you want to change the time period, you should use the calendar selector in the top right-hand corner. Learn more about the calendar selector here.
If you decide later that you want to change the time period, you are able to through the customise audience screen. Learn more about that screen here.
The last part of selecting an audience is selecting your filter. The filter is set by which type of insight card you select your audience from.
- Visitor Loyalty (whether they are new, regular or repeat visitors)
- Time of day
- Day of week
- Previously / subsequently visited venues
For a detailed list of which filter is attached to each insight card, please visit the Analytics section.
2. Adding your audience to the basket
After selecting the location, time period, and filter, you simply need to click button. This will lock in your audience and bring up the ‘Customise your Audience’ screen. Learn more about that screen here.
3. Using the checkbox tool to select an audience
When a graph is displaying different audiences on a single page, you will sometimes need to use the checkbox tool to select your desired audience.
In this event, you will need to select ‘Buy Audience’ as usual, but this time a set of checkboxes will appear next to your options as well as a new ‘Add Selected Audiences’ button.
You can select as many or as few options as you want at this point. As soon as you’re finished, simply select the ‘Add Selected Audiences’ button and all of your choices will be added to your audience segment.
And voila! Your audience is created. The next step is to customise you audience. You can learn more about that here.
